AI Product Engineer — Unusual Whales

You build Unusual Whales end to end — a Python/FastAPI backend, a vanilla JS frontend, and real-time WebSocket data that keeps options flow and capped-risk positions live on screen. You also wire the app into AI agents over API and MCP so an agent can read flow and open capped-risk positions on a trader's behalf.

What you'll do

• Build features across the FastAPI backend and vanilla JS frontend that turn flow into capped-risk positions
• Stream options flow and position updates to the client in real time over WebSocket
• Expose the app to AI agents through clean API and MCP surfaces
• Ensure every number the app shows is backed by a verifiable source, never fabricated
• Ship features across backend, frontend and agent surfaces together so the whole path works

What you bring

• Strong Python and FastAPI skills plus vanilla JavaScript for the frontend
• Experience building real-time data delivery over WebSocket
• Ability to design and build API and MCP surfaces for AI agents
• Care for correctness of financial numbers and capped-risk position logic
• Comfort owning a feature from backend through frontend to agent integration
