AI Product Engineer — Alpaca

You build Alpaca's features end to end so it streams live market data free and continuously to every visitor. You work across a Python and FastAPI backend, a vanilla JavaScript frontend and real-time WebSocket delivery, and you expose the same live data to AI agents through API and MCP surfaces.

💰 Salary: $150,000 – $220,000 USD / year · Remote OK

What you'll do

• Build backend endpoints in Python and FastAPI that source and serve live market data
• Deliver continuous real-time updates to the browser over WebSocket connections
• Implement the vanilla JavaScript frontend that renders the streaming data live
• Expose the live data to AI agents through clean API and MCP interfaces
• Ship features across backend, frontend and data layers as complete, working flows

What you bring

• Strong Python and FastAPI backend skills plus vanilla JavaScript frontend experience
• Hands-on experience delivering real-time data over WebSockets
• Familiarity building API and MCP surfaces for AI-agent consumption
• Track record shipping features end to end across the stack
