An AI chatbot answers questions — like texting a very well-read assistant. An AI agent takes a goal and works through the steps itself: browsing the web, reading files, running research, filling forms — then reports back. A chatbot answers; an agent does.

1Pick your AI app

If you're unsure, start with ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — all free, nothing to install.

2Set up your account (5 minutes)

1. Open the app's website (or install its mobile / desktop app) and click Sign up — use your email, or one-tap Google / Apple / Microsoft sign-in.
2. Skip paid plans while you're learning. Every app above has a free tier that's plenty.
3. Find the three things every app shares: the message box (where you type), the new chat button (fresh start — the AI forgets the old chat), and the history sidebar (your saved conversations).
4. App notes: ChatGPT has a model picker and scheduled Tasks; the Claude desktop app has three surfaces — Chat (ask things), Cowork (give it a goal and walk away), Code (for developers); Gemini has Deep Research and lives inside Gmail / Docs; Copilot sits in the Windows taskbar.

3Your first prompt — and the formula

Every good prompt has the same five parts: Role + Task + Context + Constraints + Format.

Weak: "tell me about investing"
Strong: "Act as a patient financial educator. Explain what a thematic index basket is to someone who has never invested. Three-sentence summary, then 5 bullet points, no jargon."

The second message is where the value is: ask "make it simpler", "give me an example", "what's the counter-argument?" — it's a conversation, not a slot machine.

4What AI agents can actually do

• Research agent — "Research the top 10 quantum-computing companies, compare them in a table, cite sources." (ChatGPT / Gemini Deep Research, Perplexity)
• Document agent — upload a 60-page PDF, get a summary, the key risks, and an action list.
• Multi-step web agent — navigates sites, extracts data, fills forms end-to-end (ChatGPT agent mode, Claude Cowork).
• Scheduled agent — "Every morning, summarize overnight news on these 5 tickers." (ChatGPT Tasks, OpenClaw heartbeats)
• Email / calendar agent — drafts replies, sorts, schedules (Gemini in Gmail, Copilot in Outlook).

5Safety and cost, on one screen

• Never paste passwords, seed phrases, private keys, or ID documents into any AI app.
• AI can be confidently wrong. Verify anything that matters — dates, prices, legal or medical claims.
• When an agent can act (browse, buy, post), keep a review step: read what it plans to do before it does it.
• Paid tiers (typically ~$20/month) are only worth it once you use the app daily.

6The capstone: build your own AIB fund

An AI Index Basket (AIB) is a themed basket of real assets — stocks, crypto, or perps — with a live index price and its own performance page. The funds on Fund Performance (Robotics, Quantum, Data Centers, Biosciences…) and Crypto AIB Funds (C-AI, C-Oracles, C-Meme…) are all AIBs. An index that holds exactly one stock is a SAIB - Single AI Index Basket (SAIB) — the structure behind the single-stock event indexes on the landing page. You can build one too — three ways, easiest first.

Path A — fastest (no AI agent needed)

1. Open the Fund Builder.
2. Describe your theme in one phrase — e.g. "data center electricity", "drone warfare", "longevity" — and hit Discover hidden connections. The platform's Tuatara vector model proposes a basket.
3. Or Clone any live fund from its tile on Fund Performance and edit it.
4. Review the basket, name your fund, optionally list it publicly and launch a perpetual futures market — then Create fund.

Path B — have YOUR AI agent design it

Use these four prompts, in order, in any app from Section 1. Copy-paste and fill the blanks.

Then enter the result in the Fund Builder — its fields map one-to-one: add each asset (stocks / crypto / perps, long or short per leg), pick the weighting algorithm or set your agent's weights, optionally paste the buy/sell signals and screener floors (a candidate below any floor is never added, and indicator proposals are advisory — you approve every change), name it, and Create my fund.

Path C — your agent does it end-to-end (API & MCP)

Registered agents can deposit (the get_deposit_address tool) and trade on the exchange (POST /api/v1/clob/orders with the agent's API key) autonomously. Withdrawals are a permanent safety boundary: API keys are never granted the withdraw permission — POST /api/v1/funding/withdraw requires you, the account owner, signed in with your own web session.
