Start a company in the Cayman Islands
Every creator on EventTrader can form their company as a real legal entity. These are the steps, in order, and the facts you need before you start. The same steps apply to any domicile on the planet or a declared seat on the Moon, Mars, Europa or Titan.
The steps
- Build the company on the platform. Create your company at /company: name, mission, departments. It runs paper-by-default; forming a legal entity is optional and can start at any time from the office's Legal entity panel.
- Choose Cayman Islands and the entity type. In the Legal entity panel pick Cayman Islands (the default and first listed), then the type. For a company that will raise money or issue tokens later, the Exempted Company is the usual choice; an LLC or Foundation Company suits other goals. The platform describes each type and never tells you which is right — ask your own counsel.
- Draft the structure. Set the legal name (the agent checks availability with the Registry), share classes (code, authorised shares, par value, votes, preferences; mark one class for backers with an issue price if you want backers to receive shares), founders' allotments, option pool, directors and governance thresholds. Keep authorised share capital inside the lowest government fee band unless you have a reason not to.
- Review Cymetica's stake. Cymetica takes a 1%–10% equity interest in every company formed through Build a Company. The percentage is set by the measured AI compute cost of the company's agent turns up to the moment you request formation (the tier table on the formation guide). Requesting formation is the acceptance: the request carries your explicit acceptance of this rule (accept_platform_stake: true), and in that same action the percentage is locked and your acceptance is recorded. A request without the acceptance is refused and nothing is locked. The locked percentage is booked as a line in your company's primary share class in the name of Cymetica's holding entity. An unreadable meter books the 1% floor, never more. The line issues with the rest of the register when the company is incorporated. The percentage that applies to you is shown live in the panel with the compute cost it is based on.
- Prepare your documents. Your registered agent will ask every director and every beneficial owner for: a certified passport copy, a certified proof of address under three months old, and a short source-of-funds statement. A corporate shareholder adds its certificate of incorporation, registers of directors and members, good-standing certificate and beneficial-owner declaration. Have scans ready before you request formation.
- Request formation. Press Request formation. The request includes your explicit acceptance of Cymetica's stake rule from step 4; Cymetica's percentage locks and the acceptance is recorded at that moment. The formation desk sends your structure to a licensed Cayman registered agent and enters the agent's real written quote: government registration fee, agent fee, registered office for year one, due diligence, any express fee. You see only what the agent quoted, line by line.
- Accept the quote and pay from your own balance. Accept the quote to pay it from your own balance. You can fund your balance with USDC, USDT, ETH, BTC, Zcash, Monero or any other asset the platform accepts; the platform converts to USDC for you. Cymetica never funds any part of your formation and never pays through a third-party bridge.
- Complete the agent's onboarding. The agent runs its own identity, beneficial-ownership and sanctions checks and sends you a secure upload link. Upload the documents from step 5 directly to the agent. The platform passes your structure, not your documents.
- Filing and incorporation. Once payment is confirmed and onboarding is complete the agent files with the Registry (standard or express track as quoted). When the certificate of incorporation arrives the desk records the registration number and date; founders', Cymetica's and backers' subscribed shares become issued shares on the register.
- After incorporation. Your agent keeps the registers and files the annual return, annual fee, Economic Substance Notification and beneficial-ownership updates; the office shows the compliance calendar. You can now make the company investable, launch its token, or list a founder perp from the office.
What to know about a Cayman company
- An exempted company is the standard Cayman vehicle for a business run outside the Islands: it may not trade with the Cayman public, needs at least one director (no residency requirement) and one shareholder, and has no audit or company-secretary requirement.
- Every Cayman company must keep a registered office in the Islands provided by a licensed corporate services provider (your registered agent). You cannot self-provide it; the agent also keeps the statutory registers and files the beneficial-ownership register.
- Government fees are set by the General Registry's published schedule and scale with authorised share capital; the lowest band covers authorised capital up to CI$42,000 (about US$51,000). Your quote itemises the government fee your agent disburses.
- After incorporation the company files an annual return and pays an annual fee every January (deadline the last business day of March), files an Economic Substance Notification each year, and reports beneficial-owner changes within 30 days. Your registered agent handles these filings.
- Shares can be issued in classes with different votes, dividend and liquidation preferences — the structure you draft on the platform is what the agent files.

The same steps apply to every domicile on the platform (any country, or a declared seat on the Moon, Mars, Europa or Titan registered through an Earth registry — Cayman by default); only the local agent, entity types, documents and public fee schedule differ, and your quote always comes from the local agent.
This guide describes the platform's process and public facts. It is not legal, tax or investment advice; ask your own counsel before choosing a domicile or structure.
