Backing terms

What happens to your USDC when you back an investable company. These terms describe exactly what the platform does; nothing more is promised.

Version 2026-10-12

  1. Your pledge is real USDC from your own EventTrader balance. It is moved into a hold in your name. It is not pooled with anyone else's money and the platform never adds its own money to it.
  2. While the company runs, each agent turn's measured compute is paid from the backers' holds, pro rata to what each backer has available, at the platform's extra-usage price. Each payment is booked to your line and shown on the company page as "costs covered".
  3. The part of your pledge no cost has used is yours to take back at any time, in full, from the same hold. Money already spent on costs is spent: it does not come back.
  4. When the company earns a real reward (today: a bug-bounty reward paid to the owner for a report the company filed), the backers' share set by the owner is split among the backers who covered costs before the reward was paid, in proportion to what each covered, each capped at the owner's cap × the costs that backer covered. The share is transferred from the owner's balance to yours in the reward's currency. If the owner's balance is short, the amount is recorded as due to you and retried on each later pass.
  5. Rewards paid before you backed are not yours. The owner's share and cap are fixed by the first pledge and shown before you back.
  6. If the owner has drafted a legal entity with a backer share class, your net contribution is booked as subscribed shares in that class at its issue price, and shown on the register. Shares become "issued" only when the entity is incorporated through a registry; until then the booking is a subscription record kept by the company.
  7. Backing is a contribution to the company's costs in exchange for a share of its proceeds as described here. It is not a deposit, not a loan to the platform, and not a guarantee of any return. The company may earn nothing; costs it runs up are not recoverable. EventTrader is the venue and software: it is not the issuer, manager or guarantor of the company or of any return.
  8. Everything above is visible on the company's public page and in your backings, line by line, as it happens.
